Please note that the original symbols as per Indian Classical Music is different than  symbols used here in the said site as per convenience available in technical format.

 

Sa Swar – Shadaj

Re Swar – Rishabh

Ga Swar – Gandhar

Ma Swar – Madhyam

Pa Swar – Pancham

Dha Swar – Dhaiwat

Ni Swar – Nishad

 

   1)       Komal Swar   Re , Ga , Dha, Ni

As per Indian Classical Music, komal swar indicated using underline below the said notation. (Pandit Bhatkhande Paddhati- in written language)

Site –> Re               –> Underlined Re , Ga, Dha , Ni swar refers to the Komal Swar. 

 

 2)         Tivra Swar Ma^

As per Indian Classical Music , Tivra Ma swar indicated using vertical line on the said swar notation (Pandit Bhatkhande Paddhati- in written language).

Site –>  Ma^            –>  This refers to the ‘Tivra Ma’ swar

 

3) Madhya Saptak Saa  

As per Indian Classical Music, Madhya Saptak Swar does not have any specific indication and simply swar notation is written.  (Pandit Bhatkhande Paddhati- in written language)

Site  –>      Sa                –> Madhya Saptak Saa – that is (Shadaj) swar (note) from Madhya Saptak to be applied.

 

4)  Mandra Saptak Sa.

As per Indian Classical Music, Mandra Saptak Swar indicated by dot below said swar notation . (Pandit Bhatkhande Paddhati- in written language).

Site –>         Sa.                –> Mandra Saptak Saa – that is (Shadaj) swar (note) from Mandra Saptak to be applied.

 

5)  Taar Saptak Sa` 

As per Indian Classical Music, Taar Saptak Swar indicated ion and simply swar notation is written. (Pandit Bhatkhande Paddhati- in written language)

Site  –>        Sa`              –>  Taar Saptak Saa –  that is (Shadaj) swar (note) from Taar Saptak to be applied.

 

6) Dand (partition indication)  |

Site –>        |                   –>  Called as ‘Dand’ – vertical line indicating partition in given divisions while notation is available in Taal rhythm.

 

7)  Avagrah        – 

     Sa  –           –> dash – it indicates the swar before dash –  has to extend at the said position for given beat count of rhythm.   

      

 8)   Grouping of swars in one beat  *MaPa *DhaNi

Grouping of swars in 1 beat indicated as *MaPa . It says MaPa to be given same space which singing in said beat.

     Taal Related   – 

   लय  Speed    –> गति that is speed. which  speed of given rhythm to be followed ..

                      विलंबित  Vilambit – Slow – very slow speed ; generally used for bada khyal  presentation.
मध्य Madhya – Medium – Normal speed
अति – जलद – Fast  –  Little faster than Normal Speed
अति अति  – द्रुत –  Fastest         

     |                   –>  Called as ‘Dand’ – vertical line indicating partition in given divisions while                                       notation is available in Taal rhythm.

    X                   –>  Called as ‘Sum’ – Indicates very first beat (first clap position) of said rhythm.  Generally this clap beat sounds different from other claps’ at different positions. 

    o                    –>  indicates khali or kaal division of said taal.

  2 , 3 any count        –>     the number indicates the ‘ n th ‘ positioned clap while the said    rhythm’s  repetation (aawartan) is going on.
